RENDERING + VISUAL AIDS
Effectively communicating ideas and designs in the field of architecture and urban planning rely heavily on visual aids. Every project has its own needs to properly convey its essence to the client. We value the craft and quality of using handmade methods in our process, as well as the benefits and speed of modern technology. Tidelands Design Maquette used a hybrid of these methods to meet the needs of any project.
WATERCOLOR
Rendering in watercolor is a technique that was perfected at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts and has been passed down to classical designers. This method produces works that are evocative works of art that double as an effective communication tool. Handmade, these renderings have a richness and depth that digital works cannot replicate. These renderings make for stunning final presentations and can be extraordinary gifts that will be treasured.
DIGITAL RENDERING
Digital rendering takes the beauty of handmade renderings and combines it with the speed of digital processes. Our hybrid works take hand drawings or CAD line work to transform them into works that reflect the essence of watercolor. For hand drawn works, you can either supply the drawn line work for use, or we can create the hand drawings from your provided CAD files. The urban intervention for Piazza Della Navicella is a prime example of this technique.
PHYSICAL MODELS
Many projects require a three dimensional illustration to convey spaces and overall form to clients and communities. Study models throughout the design process are crucial to making informed decisions and achieving the desired result with minimal surprises along the way. Models such as these have been used by designers and artists for centuries to perfect the work at a small scale first. In French, the word maquette means “a sculpture's preliminary sketch or model.”
